I may have this in the wrong forum, in which case maybe someone could move it.

After abandoning efforts on one novel, and shopping the heck out of another, I now have three offers of representation from three newish (though with good sales records) agents from fancy pantsy agencies. Yay - - and yet.....how do I decide? I know the basic questions as far as sales techniques and process, which editors would be a good fit for the novel and what have you....but maybe there's an important question that I'm missing. Or, perhaps, it's all about personality and rapport, in which case, I know exactly who I'd choose.

What do you people think? If a girl has more than one offer, who should she go with (is this a dating question or an agent question? Perhaps there's no difference)

Thanks, y'all.

This would probably be more appropriate for this forum if you told us which agents they were, we could offer suggestions as to which may be the best choice for you.

On a lighter note, congratulations! That's a huge accomplishment.

You definitely need to talk to some of their clients. They should offer you names if you don't know of any, but clients can tell you a lot about an agent. I'd say good communication should be at the top of the list. A friend of mine fired her big name agent after a year because her communication skills left a lot to be desired. The agent was so busy with her big clients that she couldn't make time for my friend. Now my friend has a fabulous agent who's a company of one. This agent has done more for her in three months than Ms. Big Shot did in a year.
