Hi,

I had a couple of questions regarding this publication. First off, I remember reading here that the fiction editor there had died. Who was that? Because my friend just got a personalized rejection from Jonhene Granger (sp?), with handwritten comments.

Also - where do you all find the submission guidelines? There is no website that I can find anywhere that has info. My same friend was rejected because her story was 1000 words and Ms. Granger told her that the maximum length is 800 words.

Thank you,

c.e.

Hi c.e.,

If you search the AW forums for "Woman's World" (not "Women's World"), you'll find a bunch of threads.

Here's the thread that has guidelines (scroll down a bit):

http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29208&highlight=Woman's+World

Jimmy Meiss passed away a few months ago. She was the first person to review a story; if it passed muster she'd send it on to Johnene.

Yes, it's true that they have lowered the word count.

Oops. Sorry. Will check those out asap. Thank you.

Edited to add:

Thank you. It appears that the guidelines in AW were obtained by email from the publication. I wonder why Woman's World doesn't post them anywhere. The thread had the word count at 1100, but apparently it is only 800 currently. (BTW - I am doing this for my friend, who doesn't come to AW. I would have had the correct name if I were going to submit there myself. But I should have researched a little before posting, so thank you for bearing with me. :) )

Thanks so much for your help, seaaircarol.

No worries. Glad to help.

They don't really have a website, so I guess that's why the guidelines aren't up anywhere. I wish they did; in fact, I wish they accepted stories via email. It's so much easier for everyone, I think. :)
