I'm a newbie to this forum, so please forgive me if this question or subject has been beaten to death before.

I'm in the process of editing an anthology of short stories (science fiction) selected from the stories entered into contests within SFNovelist.com over eight years. The anthology will be published as an ebook.

One of the members of that group asked an important question that I'm not sure how to answer, so I decided to ask you folks.

"Do you hurt your chances of selling a book to a large print publisher if you epublish it elsewhere first?"

The question was for "selling a book to a large print publisher," but we would also like to know the answer for selling a short story to a print publisher.

We deeply appreciate any feedback you can give us.

It is publishing, so you can no longer sell first publication rights even though you have only actually used the digital rights. This will significantly reduce the number of markets that will consider a work.

Epublishing is covered by digital or electronic rights.

Print publishing is covered by First World English, First North American English, etc rights.

Some publishers will be adverse to printing a previously published work, no matter the format.
