Another title question.

This is just because I am interested in marketing. I know it's not incredibly important at the moment.

That said, which title do you prefer and would either entice you to have a look?

1: Red Blue Yellow Green Black

2: All The Pretty Colours

Maybe the first one, but just slightly.

The second one reminds me too much of All the Pretty Horses.

No offense, but neither. Ther second one sounds like a childrens book and the first sounds like a list. (Unless it's a children's book, in which case I like them)

If you must have colours, then make it sound more complex.

I'm guessing this is to do with the piece you put in SYW, so I'm thinking of titles that would match it. (I hope you don't mind me giving suggestions)

Spinning a web of colours,
The colours of psychopathic tendancies (That just makes me laugh)
Death isn't colourblind
The colours of murder
Colouring murder
Deadly colour

Also a suggestion: You could name each person after a colour, so the dead red girl could be called Ruby, the yellow girl is Sun, green is Jade, blue could be Sky, etc. (obviously dependent on their gender). Or it could begin with the same letter (blue and Bell, green and Gertrude, etc.). Just an idea.

Just on title alone, the first one seems more attractive. But it would have to match an appropriate cover.

I agree with alleycat, the other one is too similar to All The Pretty Horses...unless that's exactly what you're going for.

Neither. The first sounds obscure. The second's too close to All The Pretty Horses.

How about just Pretty Colors? Or Dazzling Colors? Or some such?

Neither, but I would be able to remember the second one to look for it in store/online and tell people about it. The first one I would never get in the right order.

Why not just 'Rainbow'?

As veinglory mentioned it is difficult to remember the list offhand and the second title is too '..you'll find it in the cliched and patronising children's section.'

I agree with the "Neither" option. "All the Pretty Colours" can be remembered better than the list, but it's pretty forgettable. Neither of them make me wonder "what's this book about?" and want to pick it up.

Have you considered doing something like "R-B-Y-G-B" or something that puts a little more curiosity into the title?

You should always google and do an amazon.com search on these things... I did and found that title's been used as late as 2005.
