Greetings Fellow Writers,

I've recently decided that it's not a good idea to refer folks I know (and don't know) to my agent for several reasons. My question to you wise and tactful folks: How do I put this nicely?

I'll be speaking to a group of aspiring writers this evening, and I don't want to appear selfish if they ask for a personal referral. Anybody dealt with this before?

"I can't in good conscience refer writing I haven't actually read, and my agent prefers I don't critique other work at this time. Kind of a Catch-22, isn't it?" *laugh it off* *proceed with talk*

Or something like that. :)

Hmm, genuis! Thanks :)

By the way, I don't know how I got in the "Goals and Accomplishments" thread. This is supposed to be in the Roundtable section. Have I lost myself along the way? *worried look*

We all just assumed you considered it an accomplishment to have reached the point that you get to refuse to give referrals! :)

LOL! That's a good one.

Then again, you might be right. About a year and a half ago, I was busy groveling to get my agent. hahaha
