I was walking the dog when this guy ran up behind me. About two blocks back I had dropped $30 from my pocket and he was getting at back to me. He wasn't all that cute, but lets just say I had reason to discover he is already taken. I'd take a nice guy over a hunk any day

I wish there were a few more of this type in fiction too.

Nice is always sexy. Consideration of others is sexy. I do not think you have to be a hunk to be considered sexy. I have met, dated Hunks that were jerks and soon they lost all of their appeal. I have met, dated men that weren't so Hunky but they were so genuine and nice that their appeal level shot way high for me.

I think I have noticed a rough negative correlation between looks and manners. There are exceptions of course but I think some guys coast on their looks.

In a lot of erotica I think it is more important that the characters find each other sexy than that the reader would.

So true...as in the same for some women as well. I think a good thing for all mankind to keep in mind is that outer beauty fades but inner beauty lasts a lifetime...

and again...True. If i am watching/reading erotica and its obvious the two MC's are just simply going thru the motions and are not into one another it is an immediate shut down for me. I don't care that the characters may not be attractive for me, It is important that they are to each other.

Totally true. Hunky guys are nice to look at. If they are real jerks, even that loses its appeal because eventually I just won't be able to get past the attitude.

On the other hand, I know plenty of guys I wouldn't have looked at twice across the street but their personalities are totally what turn me on.

I wouldn't get up close and personal with a guy unless there was way more going on than a nice bod.

I know this thread went down months ago. Perhaps I should have gotten on the thread then. I am curious about what you have to say though. I've written an entire book where the hero is a nice guy. It's part of his charm, but I tried to make him handsome too. I mean, romance erotica/erotica is fantasy right? Don't we normally fantasize about nice looking, not just nice acting? Point of fact, don't we fantasize the nice looking one is nice?

Although, to your point, my readers told me my characters were too pretty. All the men have muscles and all the women come out of a magazine. Neither criticism is 100% true, but I don't really want ugly. I'm OK with not perfect.
