Eight. They are solid ideas, which means the plots are all typed up. I'm working on 3 out of the 8.

The sequel to Mirrorfall - already 10k in.
The third book (unless it gets integrated into book #2).
Two novellas with Dorian in the lead cast.
One completed novella I'm going to rewrite as a novel - and its sister story that's planned as a 90k novel.
The "script" idea - that plot is set.

Seven - and that's off the top of my head.

One finished novel, two finished novellas, one novel in progress, one novel potentially under contract with a company. For book ideas I have:

-Two more sequels to my finished novel
-Three stand-alone novels which might be series

So at least eight books and two novellas. But I think I'll just keep writing until I run out of ideas, so it's really hard to say.

I have glimmers of ideas for three novels right now. I promised myself to finish the one I'm currently working on before starting on anything else, although I have been piecing together details for one of those three ideas.

Agent just began shopping most current work.
Working on two books - one children's and one adult.

I just counted all the ideas for books in my "future work" folder. Total = 127. I'm always adding to and deleting from this file.
Of the 127, my initial critique:
15 - very good -- potential.
36 - may be good based on what I've done with them so far (limited). To early to decide.
26 - concepts only - worthy of looking into.
19 - don't think so but I'll hold them for now.
31 - I just destroyed - worthless.

Hmm...

Six.

Let's hope one of them makes it out of novella territory so I can get me published.

One that is in the editing stages and two that are WIPs.

-A trilogy, one of which is a couple thousand words from finished (1st draft)
-A sci-fi stand-alone
-A fantasy stand-alone (and planned to be huge)
-A military stand-alone
-A comedy/fantasy stand-alone.

So, six plus one that I'm working on.

Six off the top of my head.

Currently 76k words through one and 6k through another. I didn't mean to start the second so soon but it just sort of happened. I'm going with it but putting no pressure on the second, just letting that happen when it happens.

I'd say, judging from the plot writeups I have in my filing cabinet and the worlds I have already built...erm....maybe 75-80.

Of this, most as spec fic--specifically forms of fantasy in different sub genres. 75% or so.

I have 4 literary projects, a couple of historical romances, a few fictionalized historicals, and the rest are mainstream contemporary.

I never know till it's done.

Right now, for example, I'm 300,000 words into the new book. I'm pretty sure it's based on a solid idea, but I'm not sure.

And at 300,000 words, I'd really, really like to be sure.

I don't type up the plots beforehand. :/ I just work on them as they come. For me, if the plot were all typed out, then the story would be finished. *shrug*

I can't count how many ideas I have for concrete books. Scads of them. For example, I have one series alone that spans over twenty books and only three are actually written. And more might come along. Another series has at least four books, only 1.5 written. And my current serial series, who knows how many there will be. But then again, I can't say for certain how solid they all are. I'm willing to bet some ideas are somewhat on the mushy side while others are quite firm. Again, it's just something I can't know for sure until they pop out. They might be like cicadas and need to live underground for thirteen years or so before emerging.

I'm pretty new to this entire creative writing thing; until 2 months ago I was all about writing essays (for uni), but had never actually tried to write creatively. Anyway, I have:

-One novel that's about 12K words in...there's a sequal that I have outlined roughly to that, too.
-Another novel idea that is completely different. I've outlined some of it, and I like where it's going.

I'm guessing I have four strong concepts at this point, and a few other ideas that might make the cut.

I'm real gun shy on concepts/ideas now. I really, really wish I had a new one I could trust. I have only the glimmer of one bouncing around in my head at the moment, and it's a character only. I've discarded my list of eight others, believing that they were great at one time, but now realizing that they are/were NOT commercial.

Tri! You're just bloody tired man, and you've had a rough time of it lately. You need to just dig a big long ditch, or build a dry-stone wall, and give your head some peace for a little while. Suddenly you'll get that itchy feeling in your gut again and you won't be able to stop writing :0)

2 solid ideas being worked on atm, one a strong idea which still needs some fomenting and a glimmer of an idea for much further down the road. So I'd say 3 and a half! :D

I don't think any has reached "Solid" status yet. I'm still working on them all.
I'm mainly working on one, already having done a few things for 2 more.
But I then have about 10 other ideas that are not "solid" at all.
1 is mroe solid than the others, but even that one I keep revising.

Have you tried breaking down the 8 concepts you had to see if any pieces or patterns were salvageable or could be recombined? If you want, pm me the list and I'll have a look.

Sadly (or humorously, depending on your point of view) I'm much better at working with other people's than my own. Mine tend to always be missing the climax/ending. :/

In terms of fully formed - just the one. If not, I'd be too distracted that I wouldn't finish my current work.

In terms of 'ideas' - I have a basic plot for about a dozen, but I know when I get to work on each one in turn, they will change significantly from my original plan.

There's my WIP, and it's tentative sequel, my futuristic one that I could jump in and start writing at any moment, two more half-written ones that I'm dying to finish, an angel one that's solid, plus another solid idea that may or may not be written as a novel. So...*counts*...that's seven solid ideas.

I have at least a handful more that sort of rotate in and out of my consciousness. Some of them are very intriguing, and sometimes it bugs me that I have so many ideas I need to write. But it's a lot better than when I couldn't trust ANY of my ideas. I pretty much wrote poetry and snippets of shorts for a few months. }:p
