Is an early chapter book the same as an easy reader? An agent I want to submit to says she isn't taking easy readers. Thanks in advance. ~Karen

Easy/early readers are those narrow books sold in the spinner racks at Borders. First or second grade reading level, under 1000 words. Books like Biscuit, Fly Guy, Little Bear. They are usually developed in-house or with contract writers because the rules are so complicated.
Chapter books are longer, 3000 words or more, with more developed stories. Magic Treehouse, Junie B. Jones, etc.
