All,

Update on The Gunfighter Hollis Brown poetry collection.

First, there were better than 70 pieces of poetry submitted by multiple, regular and new authors. What a wonderful collection of work. Over the past three days, I've read through the entire body three times. Each work is great. Each work builds the myth. Hollis, family, friend, enemies and a litany of other things are alive and well within the lines and verse of the poems.

Next, I've started the layout and design of the book that will be published on Lulu.com. Anyone will be able to download a PDF of the book for free. However, if you desire a collectible edition of the book, which will be in full color, you'll need to pay for that. As noted in the opening post, the book is being published under the Creative Commons license. Any monies from the sales will be put back into running the Absolute Write server.

Next, a time line. I'm still deciding on what size to publish the book. However, whatever size it ends up, it will run about 90 pages. So, that takes some time to design well. I'm also doing some of the artwork and scrounging from other places. So, I'm hoping to have the book done by the time my poet laureate-ship runs out (and at the rate I'm going, I'm might be show nthe door sooner rather than later). However, expect the release party around July 15.

Thanks!

What the heck...let's all chip in and buy the beer...and tell you what...for all the work he's done, Jason's share is only half...:)

Thank you Jason.

Pass the chips, please.

I'm in for buying some copies, and to support AW. A gigantic thank-you to you Jason for all of the work you've done, you are in the process of doing, and you will be doing to get this done. And, don't worry if the timeline runs longer than you think. We want you to stay sane and healthy through the process.

To Hollis,

You live though you
never did
You breathe
dust and death
in rhyme and grime
You bastard
of our hearts

Jason, once again you've taken on a bucket full of work for no personal gain. This is not unusual for you, and I'm not surprised. But I am in awe, and most appreciative. I know I'm not alone in thanking you for all you do for AW and its members.

And thank you Jason.Sorry, I guess I should have known that with our multinational membership, we wouldn't serve "chips" so as not create confusion between the colorful/colourful folks. ;)

Very nice work for AW's benefit. You are a poet and a scholar. Thanks for letting us participate.

How cool - a wake for Hollis. Can't wait for the party. Could we invite that newbie with the pineapple? I LOOOOOOVE pineapple with salt. Hey, I'll bring the salt...oooh, and the tequila...in case the saloon only has whiskey. :D
