My little guy, a Boston Terrier named Joey is such a patient little guy. Sometimes…
This is one of the things he does that warms my heart.
If he wants to go in a closed door, he will stand in front of the door, with his nose touching the door ledge and wait for hours. (Maybe not hours, but, definitely more than an hour.)
Every now and then, I forget that I have let him in the backyard and when I go to the door to let him in, he’s standing right there waiting, his nose pressed against the door.
I feel bad for making him stand at the door for so long, but he just walks in as if nothing concerns him.
Are all dogs so patient?

Definitely not. had more than one door with the scratch marks to prove it...

Also may not be patience but training. That makes a difference, too.

I have to sneak up and get a picture of him standing at the door. It's so cute. It's like nothing else matters except for the fact that the door he's standing in front of will open at some point in time.

I have a Chow Chow/Lab. She may not be quite as patient as yours, but she will sit quietly and wait for me to pass by to open the door. After a while she'll let out a gentle woof, moments later another woof. Occasionally, a little tap with her paw.
One night, I actually forgot she was outside. As I drifted off to sleep, I heard a few woofs and wondered whose dog was barking. Next morning I found her sleeping by the door. I felt awful.

He's a SAINT! Can we see the pix of him?
So glad you asked. :)
I have some really great pics on my other computer and need to transfer them onto this one. For now, here he is in his reindeer costume. He wasn't so patient with the ears. :)

Are you sure he's not a bit retarded? I know dogs are cute, but if he can't communicate he's not in the top echelon of dog IQ, really.

No. Not retarded. He's a very good communicator. I know when he wants to go outside, eat, play, etc...
I was just commenting about how patient he is when he wants to come back in the house.
And, because he was suspected of having lymphoma a little over a year ago, he has been through the gamut of vet visits. Not one ever mentioned that my dog was slow , much less retarded.
BTW, they removed a lump and he is clear. :)

ETA: Better descriptive words would be sweet, kind, good-natured...

My dogs are noisy when they want in. My husky runs around and looks in the window. When he sees me, he slaps the glass. My Aussie barks up a storm and bangs loudly on the door. My black lab whines.

Take a pic of him at the door. He sounds adorable.

Mine jumps up and puts her paws on the window sill and looks at me when she wants in or thinks it is time for her walk and why aren't I outside yet. Other times she just lays down near the door. WHen I check on her, if she's laying there I let her in.
