Not sure if this is the perfect place to post, but whatever.

I just got a very nice rejection from an agent who requested my full manuscript. Is it necessary for me to write a note back thanking her for her time and etc? Especially since she wants to see future projects?

Thanks :)

Oh and if I should, what should I say?

I got a very encouraging rejection on a partial, and I emailed back thanking the agent. She emailed me back a smiley face.

They're humans, at least I think so.

Yeah, they are :) I decided to send off a short note since her rejection was so nice (oxymoron!)

I rang up an editor who had given me some good advice in a rejection. She was just as helpful on the phone, giving me a few more hints.

It's not necessary, but it can't hurt. Make it short and to the point.

Normally you shouldn't respond, but since she asks to see your future projects (whether it's politeness or not), I think it's a good form to respond with a "thank you" note. But not much -- don't push it until you have something to show her.

I agree. Make it short and sweet. Craft it as carefully as you would a query letter and make sure it's just one or two lines.

I've replied with a thanks to near-misses, though just with short stories so far (they've been the closest to publication.) They've been well-received so far.
