Fishing in the Caribbean (early 17th-late 18th Centuries)

I need to know how and what people fished for a living. Was it with nets or lines? Was it just fish or did they go for things like shrimp or squid as well? What was the social status of fishermen? Occupational hazards? Anything else I should know? I've tried Google, but I can't find more than blurbs. Thanks!
