In my wip, I write, "My grade seven teacher worked us like pack mules". My beta changed it to, "My Grade 7 teacher worked us like pack mules". Which one is correct, or is it something else?

"Grade 7" sounds like a soft drink. I'd go with your original.

I have to admit I'd say, "My seventh grade teacher ..."

This might be just regional. We never called it 'Grade Seven' in speech.

I thought this might come up. I'm not American and we always call it "grade 7" here.
