Okay, I have a question for y'all. The other day I received an invitation from the Yellow Rose line of TWRP to join them in a Cafe Romance chat for western romances. Here's the thing. I sent them my full for a contemporary romance and have as of yet to hear back. (I can give them a nudge on 6/9/08) So...I'm kind of wondering if they were inviting me because I've submitted to them or what? I don't want to "nudge" too early for fear of irritating them into a "No, now go away" but I'm dying of curiosity. Should I take this as a good sign or a possible mishap on the editors part? I've been trying to sell this poor, unloved series for 3 years and this editor seemed to love my partial....

Any suggestions, comments or chocolate to help calm/reassure me? :D

I would suspect the invitation relates to being added to a mailing list and says nothing specific about how or why you got added.

Maybe some WRP authors will chime in on this--they might know more-- but I subbed to them (and was rejected) and never was invited to a chat.

Good luck!!!

Same thing happened to my CP...she got a chat invite immediately after subbing. She subbed to the fairy line. I think it may be that each editor keeps a list for their line...

(she was accepted a few weeks later, and her book released in March)

Now wouldn't that be nice? ;)

Thanks, seaaircarol! Sorry to hear about the rejection though.

Thanks everyone for your input. I had a feeling this was the case but with the eight week mark so close, I just needed someone to keep me grounded. :)

I just heard back from the Yellow Rose editor at TWRP. She loved my story and said that if I would make a few small changes, she would offer me a contract! I replied that I would. (since they were small requests and pretty much consistency issues) Soo....after waiting 3 long years to find my poor "unloved" story a home, it looks like I finally did it. :D Pardon me for a moment while I do a quick Snoopy dance. :snoopy:

Glad to hear it. Although on a side note one shouldn't really be added to mailing lists without prior consent. I once spent months getting off a mailing list for a magazine that rejected my work (insult, meet injury). If it is a one-to-one email of course that is different.

Thank you everyone! I'm so excited about this. Like I said, I've waited 3 very long, frustrating years for this to happen. I've heard over and over that editors and agents want something "fresh and different" when it comes to romance, so I gave it to them. (Can't get any more different than the hero being in prison!) No one wanted it until now. :)

Yay, Sonar! Good news is always welcome, and I'm happy for you.

My (educated) guess is, the small things they will ask you to change will be quite all right with you, will make yours a better book, and you'll be glad to do the tweakings.

And then it's countdown to book-in-the-hand. What great news!
