I just spent $780 in the least satisfying way ever, the first step in a 4 visit root canal. I tell you, medical/dental fetish--I will never get that.

So, how are the rest of you?

The fetish isn't about the procedures, it's about the nurses/hygenists whatever that go with the procedures.

Best thing about being in braces as a teenager was the two blond dental assistants who always did the prep work. And you know how it is, because they have to lean in close...

*sighs*

;)

Now, on your end - root canals are horrible. Or so I've heard. Dreading a trip to the dentist myself now that I'm older and haven't been in awhile. No more fantasies about the process, let me tell you. :D

I just couldn't afford to go to the dentist for almost ten years. I think 5 fillings and a root canal is probably getting off easy all things considered.

I assume everyone here is writing too? Anything good in the works y'all.

I am deciding on my next work having just submitted a nivella. I have sent the first 1000 words of my top 4 possibilities to my writing group and will see what they think on Saturday. Oddly 3 of the 4 ar MF when almost everything I have written to date is MM.

I just feel like a bit of a change. Possibly a mistake... oh well.

Small confession: I generally don't write erotica - at least not specifically. I just saw the "Hi everyone" title and came on in. :D

Didn't notice where i was really until after I posted.

Everyone is welcome :) Watch out, we may get you writing erotica yet.

Don't think of it as a mistake, think of it as an experiment! :) Hope for good results, expect nothing.

I am indeed writing. I finished my Magnum Opus at the beginning of Feb, 150K words. Now I'm editing, which I'm not making much progress with. It's an epic erotic novel, main characters M/F but the rest ... variable.

Aside from that I have probably 8 stories going at any one time that I touch off and on for brief periods, but the main focus since the end of 2005 has been the novel.

How did you find your writing group? Do you interact mainly online?

I'm looking for the same but don't really know where to start, I want to find mutually supportive and thorough commenters versus go the individual beta reader route ... I've been over to Desdmona's Fish Tank but the focus there is shorts.

Sorry to hear about the dental issues, Emily. I really need to go myself and am majorly procrastinating.

I just submitted a m/f erotic novella to my editor so now I get the pleasure of waiting for that.

In the meantime, I am contemplating starting a novel-length m/m as so far I have only contracted novella length works. I have a bare-bones plot and about 3-4 pages written so far...so we will see how that goes!

I'm $1750--that's half-way--into a dental implant, thanks. This is a root canal that failed. Most don't, of course, but I had a drug-resistant abscess that just got bigger and bigger over a four-year period. Enough, already.

Aside from that, I'm discouraged. I still think my novel is good, but I can't seem to produce a query letter of the same caliber. Since there aren't so many agent repping erotica that I can risk losing a few, I'm still right where I was months ago, sitting on a novel I can't yet query on.

Maryn, sucktacular at queries

Just doing zippy-cool!

Had a couple of implants added to my structure and one tooth pulled from my structure (doesn't make me quite even though, does it?). Cost so far...$3400, with another $2K or so to go.

But we're doing just fine. Today we survived a blow out on our 5th wheel trailer (that's 'caravan' to you over the pond). I had to crawl underneath, wrestle a road alligator off the axle (a 'road alligator' is those pieces of tire that you see, resting comfortably on the side of the road after separating from some rolling rig).

We were able to find a replacement tire, and instead of zipping farther up the road we decide to stay another night in booming downtown Holbrook, Arizona and tour Petrified Forest NP, and the Painted Desert.

No erotica written today, although I got an idea or two watching other tourists and wondering how they were going to spend the evening. Me? I'm gonna sleep well.

The erotic implications of dentistry are obvious. Assuming your dentist/hygienist is reasonably attractive, they are leaning over you, sticking their fingers in your mouth, asking you to "open wider," and telling you when to spit. And if you happen to be a masochist, all the scary implements are enough to make one giddy.

Speaking of (more common) fetishes, I was writing a campy spanking story set in a fantasy milieu for "publication" on a website that catered to that sort of thing. It was going great. But I stopped visiting that website for personal reasons. Now my drive to continue that story has dried up.

So, I'm back to writing my Magnum Opus. I don't consider it to be erotica, but it has erotic undertones, and it will have a sex scene or two. But never, it seems, the scene I'm currently working on....

The last female dentist I went to for regular check-up... She sat behind my chair while cleaning my teeth, and rested her breasts against my head. I supposed that was for support, not that she was soothing my nervousness. It was undeniably the best dental experience I've ever had--all others were hellish.

I suspect if this gets out, people will be traveling to New Jersey for dental care.

I once had a very handsome dentist. That was the best care I ever took of my teeth. Never missed a cleaning during those years.
