800 number
I heard a stat yesterday that I won't even attempt to mangle, but it was a study in how many more sales authors make by radio when they give an 800 number for orders. Self-pubbers should seriously consider getting an 800 number, and traditionally pubbed authors should have the 800 number their publisher uses for orders onhand. I've forgotten this a couple of times and just gave my web address, but if listeners are not in a convenient place to use the web, I'm out of luck. Also, give them warning to write your book's title and the phone number down-- announce that you'll give out the number in "just a minute," so they can get pen and paper handy, or eyeliner and a 7-11 receipt, as my case may be.
