I'm in Cleveland - welcome to AW.
Check out
www.pwlgc.org. That's the Cleveland area writer's league, but they are also the folks most closely tied to the Ohio Writer magazine. If you can get a hand on that, you should be able to find some Columbus resources. If you can't find a copy of Ohio Writer, let me know and I'll send you some info from mine - which I can do later today if you like - I'm just winding up something due and will be out for a bit, but I'd be happy to give you some Columbus-related info from there.
The PWLGC people are extremely tied into the writers state-wide. And are really nice.
Also, there's a book called something like Being a Writer in Ohio or the Ohio Writer's Handbook. It's maybe three or four years old, but I just glanced at it in the library a week or two ago and it's very thick with information.
Finally, here's a blog of a guy who's pretty well-connected in the Ohio freelance world -
www.workingwithwords.blogspot.com. His name is John Ettorre and if anyone knows folks in Columbus, I would guess he does. You can tell him I sent you (Jill Zimon).
Good luck! Let me know if I can help in any other way.
