I just wanted to say welcome to all the new members of Absolute Write! I have been registered here for about three months (but have read this board for well over three years) and already I have seen so many new faces come through the boards. AW is a wonderful resource and this is the place to be for anyone who takes their writing seriously (ok, and those that don't).

So, welcome everyone!

:)

Thanks, Renee, for welcoming us new people to this board. I recognize your name from the PA discussion board. We have interacted there a few times, but you wouldn't recognize my name as I'm incognito

until certain issues I have with PA are resolved.

Did you ever get out of your contract? If so, how did you do it?

I'd also like to use this thread to welcome those who have arrived in recent weeks, as I've not been on the boards as much, whilst fighting a flu-bug. Welcome!!! :)

Hello Crystal - or whoever you really are (hehe). God, now you'll have me wondering who you are. No, I understand about PA and authors having to be incognito. Matter of fact when I first registered with Absolute Write I used a username rather than my real name for the same reason. I hope you are able to get your situation with PA resolved. Truly that is like climbing up a slippery mountain - barefoot and butt azz naked...lol..

No, I am still trying to get out of my contracts. No luck. I received the non-exclusivity (new) contracts. Didn't sign either. PA doesn't want to cooperate with me or the other people attempting to get out of their contarcts so I am not in anyway about to help them out or make their job easier. We'll see where this leads. I have tried but you know if they want both of my poetry books to sit and rot they can have it. In less than 7 years I'll have the rights back to both. And I'm working on many other much more important books, and have just completed one. So, in the end this will be their loss not mine. We all need to try for our rights back, but in the end move on and continue to find ways to keep our muse going.

Sorry I just now realized that I never responded to your post.

Welcome to AW!

Ps- PA suckssssssssss! lol

That's a very wonderful thought, Rene. I too would like to welcome all new writers and ex-pa authors to AW. It is by far the most elaborate and user friendly writing university around. The information here is dead-on accurate, and you'll find some very famous people here willing to help and guide you through hard times. We have agents, editors, and publishers in this group that can provide first-hand knowledge of any topic you wish to discuss.

In its last incarnation AW had over 4,000 registered users when it began many moons ago. As of a couple of months, we've added 1,600 more to that tally. Now that says something about how "Right" this "Writing" place is and has been.

:welcome: I'd like to welcome all the newbies, too. I think this thread is a cool one, Renee; great idea.

And thanks for the welcome, also, Renee. As you probably know I've only been here since last month, so I'm still a bit of a newbie myself.

These boards are some of the most fascinating and inspirational I've ever seen. Again, to all the newbies, welcome. I hope you all enjoy the boards and the site.

Talk to you all later!

:)

Behind you!
A special hats-off to any refugees from IMDb's Shop Talk Writers and Books boards, where the criticism can be cruel, personal, and wrong. (I've recommended AW to so many this week, surely one of you must've given this place a shot!) You'll find it very different here--the criticism is tactful, concentrates on the writing, and comes from people who are glad to help you and may become friends rather quickly. (Right? Right!)
