The same thing happened to me back in December. I had signed the contract in 2004 and they emailed me in December of 2007 to see where the final manuscript was.

They don't seem to throw anything away over there....

Tell them thank you but while they sat on their thumbs you sent it to a real publisher.

Random House will release it next month in a 100,000 printing for world-wide distribution. Your big problem at present is how to spend the advance money while on a whirlwind signing tour.

That's about as truthful as their claim to give any book the chance it deserves.
