You Can't Have NaNo Without a Word Count Thread! (2016)

Congrats, everybody!! Keep it up.

*chases down final words in between loads of laundry*

November 22: 1134 (by my count), 1135 (NaNo) No progress since then until tonight. Yeah, I've gone off the NaNo rails.

28th: 778
29th: 1252
30th: 3530

And two of those words were 'the end'! It's a mess, even for a first draft, but I'm happy I finished it. I also did those words in about an hour and a half so if I actually put my head down and focus, I can be really productive. Helps that I knew exactly where I was going there.

NaNo site verification gave me a few hundred more words, but what was interesting was going from Word on my surface to Word on my computer lost me ten words.

No days off til December!

Okay, question for those of you who have ben declared winners and are still writing:

Once you've validated your word count and been marked "winner," if you keep adding to it under "add to total" does it get added to your official number?

Or do you have to revalidate the entire ms again with the added words pasted in?

Not like I'm counting or anything... ;p

Last day of first NaNo, pleased and relieved and oh no, it's sinking in that neither book is close to done and I'll probably ditch more than half of what I just wrote! Gaaah.

Last day: a measly 527 (but that's okay. I was going waaay slower and rewrite rewrite rewrite)

I was absolutely terrible at remembering to post my word count, so I figured I'd just wait until the end

I wound up hitting a stretch goal, so I'm pretty pleased with this NaNo. Oh, and I noticed people checking the word count disparities, so just for fun checked mine in a few.

Word: 83,181

A hundred words give or take isn't that bad

Final count -- 63,733 (#7 overall; highest was 2014 at 80,399)
Personal best -- 3485 (#13 of 13; highest was Nov. 20, 2011 at 6506), but every day was over 1667

I skipped sleep last night to write about 5k words. Then wrote the rest after work tonight. SO EXHAUSTED. Most of what I've written in the last 48 hours is absolute garbage but I was determined to finish. I think I wrote most of it with my eyes closed, just hitting the keyboard. LOL.

I finished last night just shy of 56k. Really impressed by all the people up in the 60's and beyond.

Whew! I finished with just over the 50 k. The book isn't finished though, but my goal is to do that this month. Then edit January.

Sorry I wasn't very active on forums here- I barely got the words I did because I've been in the hospital since mid November, so I haven't been on the web much, but it also helped force me to focus on something else, and I could do so with writing (and prayers).

But I think writing is a positive way to get wrapped up in other situations than just looking at my own, so a perfect thing for Nano. So whew I did it!

Missed validation so I'm on the list for them to add mine and validate me, so I'll see my certificate and all a bit later.but whew that's ok it's done!

You all are amazing at your word counts and words per day. Wow!
