Is it more grown up or less grown up than YA? Examples of MG fiction books would be helpful and appreciated.

Let's see: The Hardy Boys level is now considered MG.

Some of my current favorites are: Percy and the Olympians series, The Ranger's Apprentice series, and the Larklight series.

The first three Harry Potters are MG level. Then they creep into YA territory.

The Artemis Fowl books are MG.

Here is a link to ARBookFind. You can search any children's book and it will tell you the reading level, word count, etc... Very helpful site. It's for parents and teachers, but it's dead useful to writers.

Tremendous help. Thanks a million. I've been wanting to make sure my son Evan (10) is reading the correct materials for his age group. He's into Artemus Fowl, and yes, I still have my old Hardy Boys mysteries, which he eats up.

I had an MG midget.Red.

I is shameless.

This book should come with a warning: Child May Insist on Finding an Extremely Ginormous Octopus.

Seriously. My youngest wanted to see one so badly that I had to buy him a stuffed one to shut the little dear up.
