A sudden burst of feeling batters the heart
And floods the eyes. The ruddy flame within
Turns frosty blue and hardens against the din
Of senseless strife that deep within us start.
Ah, winter greets us round the bend. Friends part
Like strangers even before the cold sets in
And words that fly from lips grown pale and thin
Like arrows– poison-tipped– they sting and dart!
Then comes the final wave of hands that cleave
The rancid air. And chasms dropping sheer
Devour the ground from under lover’s feet
The frigid tears embossed in ice deceive
So well that now the act of loving’s mere
Display of flowers thrown round an idol’s feet!

"Hold me," the Physicist Said

i want to go down where the face is just skin
with no bones or noses to feel sexy in
i'll take you down below all fire
where blood lava sings out in high choir
snowfall down the valleys of cells and microbes
where electron static cloud fall flows

take me down where the copper
surf washes on these shores of silver
touch our wind beneath the bones
where light-year traveling protons drone

in every touch we melt together
joined in cells we'll never sever
our flesh bound by subatomic light
sinking in the universal night

The First Move

Aztec Gold is aglitter in her eyes,
which gaze at a point just beyond my head.
She walks by, oblivious of my sighs
and of bold words that---that I almost said.

I watch her move till she’s out of my sight,
And then abuse a locker with my fist.
Were I not a coward! Then I just might
win her over and find out what I’ve missed.

The cruelest bully in this rotten school
is my demurance and a silent tongue.
How is it my mouth can be such a fool
While, inside, I’ve a thousand praises sung?

I’m mad from silence, but afraid to say hi.
God, let her talk to me when next she walks by.

Not Our Day

Valentine’s Day is about much, but love
It rolls the red carpet, but for who, for what?
Not for loves true owners…who know the dove
Instead for those who’ve yet to make the cut

Our oneness melds two minds, two souls, too deep
For just one single day to hold in view
The cup’s half full each day of any week
The bounds of the two souls blur, again anew

Where love lives, the eyes and smiles, replace words
And needs and wants are simple as ones thoughts
In triple bliss your heart flies as a bird
Ore pristine ocean beaches lovers wrought

So fourteenth Feb’s for practice pairs at love
But not for you and I, who soar above…

We’ll Not Feel Defeat

Meandering Mother Nature’s valleys
Create inner awakening through peace.
Feeling pure comfort from Her subtle breeze,
Life’s daunting challenges these moments cease.

Views of our world are mesmerizing
When time we invest for climbing on high.
Above creation life feels quite serene,
Breathing pure freshness, relaxing ~ I sigh.

Where is the turmoil, trouble, or care?
Surely there can’t be within our retreat.
Embracing a partner dispels despair,
Hearts shall remember ~ we’ll not feel defeat.

Strength flows from union sharing nature’s cheer,
My sweetest devotion, my wife ~ no fear!

Cupid's Coaster

The coaster gleamed with sun swords on its steel.
I arched my neck, my heart loose in my hand,
Ascending into clouds I ached to feel,
The silver, windy hills, a foreign land.
We moved together, I against its chest,
And fast the ground was sky, then sky was ground.
Could any soul inside this beast find rest?
Would battered heart keep beating upside-down?
When suddenly it ended, in the still,
A herd of silenced clowns knelt at my feet.
The clouds teared up to wash away the kill;
Now they touched me, a downpour bittersweet.
How had I only seen the sun-steel gleam,
And missed the wounded, raw descending scream?

Untitled #1

So much of nature loves and loves so much
May I love you? As the moon moves the sea
Timing tides and seasons without a touch;
As the sun sweeps the earth with the deep, free
Warmth of life; as the clouds bless the breeze to
Give it purpose and seeds seek the rain which
Moistens their growth to flowerhood. If you
Allowed I’d love you with a love as rich.
I’d be another moon, sun, clouds and seed
To your sea, earth, breeze and rain and we would
Love and from our love, a world we would feed
With happiness, if you but said we could.

The world’s turning, like a ballet dancer
Caught in her flight, waiting for your answer.

Goodbye To Love That Tearfilled Stain

As winter plays its sweetened game
On face and heart in crisp decline
Of choice we spare no constant thought
Yet deny the voice of woeful course
To volley nature’s hardened chore

As spring declares such wanton flight
Lightened night in discourse flies
We children speak once again of summer thoughts
Not cold heart to disclaim
Yet warmth does not this soul’s reclaim

Goodbye to love that tearfilled stain
of seasoned trifles, cautious games
Goodbye to life that tearfilled stain
Upon which God has made not claim
