Darling, that's the whole point, since the gold lamé threads at the crime scene were from a gown Lord Poofle stole from his wife's closet (not realizing that lamé was passé), in an attempt to pin the murder on his haughty wife so that he could run off with Effie Picklesworth, a curvaceous "model" from the East End.
