If you need to get fired up for something, what song do you crank up? When I'm driving my girls to basketball, we blast Stricken by Disturbed.

Crystal Method's Keep Hope Alive, Save Ferris' cover of Come on Eileen, or Hole's Violet.

I'm probably a terrible mother, but me 'n' my boyz love rockin' out to the Ramones. Their fave is "I Want to be Sedated." Sounds pretty funny coming out of the ole minivan - we've had some strange looks.
REM's "It's the End of the World as we know it" floats their boat, too. It's really funny hearing a six year old trying to belt out all those words.

one of my guilty 'getting amped' pleasures is also Tool. Anything by them, really.

Amped? Isn't that a company that used to make cassette tapes?

I don't have just one song. I have a whole slew of songs. Some of them in no particular order:

Highway Song by Blackfoot
Children of the Grave by Black Sabbath
Love Machine by Uriah Heep
Master of the Universe by Hawkwind
Highway to Hell by AC/DC
Easy Livin by Uriah Heep
Tears in my Eyes by Uriah Heep
Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath
Dragonfly by Mahogany Rush
Little Sexy Annie by Mahogany Rush
that yodeling song (Hocus Pocus?) by Focus
Buzzard by Armageddon
Toys in the Attic by Aerosmith
Hell Bent for Leather by Judas Priest
Space Station #5 by Montrose
Silver Dollar Forger by Nazareth
Great King Rat by Queen
Polar Nights by the Scorpions
Day of the Eagle by Robin Trower
Running with the Devil by Van Halen
Quadrant 4 by Billy Cobham (excellent guitar by Tommy Bolin)

to name just a few. ;)

To build that 'Kill!!!' fervor, it's
Follow the Leaders by Killing Joke
or
Sweatloaf by Butthole Surfers

If it's a happier vibe, then I'd go
Dub 56 by the Toasters (actually, the Toasters, period, get me grooving)
or
Cumberland Blues by the Grateful Dead (the live version from Europe '72)

A recent discovery, for nights out (yeah, I remember those) is
Flawless (Go to the City) by George Michael

But now it's late night. Debussy, then sleep.

(ETA: A tip of the hat to Shadow's selection of Day of the Eagle -- good one.)

Currently its The Pretender by the Foo Fighters. Actually they have a lot of great "pump up" songs.

I can think of a couple:

Doolin' Dalton and Desperado, and their respective reprises on the Eagles' Desperado album, 1973.

Also, I try every morning to listen to Boston's self-titled LP, from 1976, the first song of which is my all-time favorite Boston song. The song is More Than A Feeling, and it just wakes me up like little else can.

My son and I turn up the song "Everything" when it comes on in the car, and he bangs his cute little head! I don't know who does that song, so please tell me. It's a bit mellow, but picks up at the end.

Rough Justice by the Stones gets me hopping, and I like Coming Down the Mountain by Jane's Addiction.
