So I'm formatting my manuscript when I suddenly realize that the William Shunn page didn't say to put a double space after every period. Rather, it said to put a double space after every form of "sentence-ending punctuation."
I went back over my manuscripts and changed the following.
Periods - (.)
Exclamation marks and quotations - (....!")
Question marks and quotations - (....?")
Is this right? Somehow it doesn't seem right. I suppose it's because the search and replace function doesn't work too well when you have a sentence like: "Why did you do that?" Richard asked. In this case, the sentence doesn't end at the word "that" does it? So Do I require a double space after the question mark?
Yikes!
