Reph, when I hit "back", it takes me back to a perfectly and frustratingly blank page. My erudite response has been vaporized. Argh. So, I'm going to try to teach myself to copy before trying to post, especially if it's long or important. Otherwise, I can just come back later and blather.

I'm getting a lot of this today:

There seems to have been a slight problem with the database.

(It's driving me crazy!)

On a fig tree, presumably
"There seems to have been a slight problem with the database."

What happens when there's a major problem with the database? The screen flashes ancient curses and spits balls of peanut butter at you?

During a major database problem, your monitor will begin spinning around counter-clockwise and green goo will start to spew from your CPU.

Once the green goo has begun appearing, exorcism is the only answer.

It goes "down" sometimes

When your computer is down, you have to give it some Prozac.

 .....I wasn't sure where to post this. Every once in awhile when i come into this site, i get a pop up page. Something about Relevanknowledge and a Survey. I thought you paid extra so there wouldn't be any pop ups. Maybe I didn't understand right.....was just passing it on.

I never get a pop up here. I think you have a spyware, Cactus. Try using spybot or Ad-aware (both free and downloadable online).

Yep. Wendy, there aren't any pop-ups here, but if there's spyware on your computer (there is on mine, too, and I can't seem to get rid of it!), then pop-ups may appear randomly when you're surfing the web. In addition to Spybot and Ad-aware, AVG (free anti-virus software) picks up on some of them, as does Avast!

I'd also recommend CWShredder, which can be obtained for free here. It gets rid of the Cool Web Search trojan, which causes all manner of popups, redirections, casino/porn program downloads etc. It's a safe and valuable download.

I've not heard of security issues with Firefox. I've heard it about IE, though. Tell me please, what did you hear?

Can't remember what I was reading now, but there's something about it here. (This article is actually more about what they're doing to fix it, but it suggests to me that I'd be constantly having to update the thing, which I haven't got time to worry about.)

Thanks, 3-7. I hadn't heard this before. IMHO, I don't think it's any worse than IE, and I really like the other features Firefox has. Guess I'll keep it.
