Rampage - Disappointingly terrible. I wasn't expecting it to be good, but I was expecting it to be fun bad, cheesy bad, something. It was just... bad. Not entertaining, or even so bad that was entertaining. It just laid there, like a pile of random, uninspiring cliches that no one could bother with, like the most boring hors d'oeuvres tray at a party -- not interesting enough to try, not something fun and nostalgic like a cheese ball, not just some veggies and dip or cream cheese roll ups that you can count on being exactly what you expect, and not even weird enough to take a pic of to show someone the jell-o salad later. Just like... water crackers and American cheese slices.

What were you expecting from a movie based on an arcade game in the 1980s (a game about mutant humans turned monsters that smashed buildings, cars, helicopters, and terrorized people)?

I has a sad. I was looking forward to fun cheese in Rampage.

I honestly don't know how they managed to make it actually just boring but they did. Poor Malin Ackerman kept trying to be a fun, scenery-chewing villain but even that somehow didn't work at all. I really don't know how they managed to screw it up so.

I quite liked San Andreas -- that was some fun, cheesetastic disaster porn.

I Feel Pretty -- better than I expected. Not that it was good but it wasn't terrible -- it's kind of exactly what you think it is, in the manner of those that have come before it. It's so Michelle Williams movie though. I have no idea what she was doing in this, and every scene she was in was better than those she wasn't, but also highlighted how outclassed everyone else in the thing was in terms of ability. She was by far the best thing about it, hilarious, subtle, not subtle, just stole it.

Downsizing. If you watch it thinking it's going to be a comedy based on the trailers, you'll be surprised. It's a fairly satirical look at things. It felt disjointed in places, like it was more a collection of vignettes. Hong Chau did a tremendous job with her part though, I thought. Damon was also very good.

Beruit -- Well-written, engaging, sort of old-school I don't know what to call it, thriller-lite? Was really good, Jon Hamm and Rosamund Pike in a Gilroy thing that requires little running around and a bunch of talking and angsting.

Beyond Skyline (Netflix). A blatant and cheap pastiche of Cowboys vs. Aliens mashed up with Battle Los Angeles, AVP, Men in Black, Independence Day, and The Matrix. Really. Do I have to say it's laughably bad?

Spiderman Homecoming. I liked it, not as much as Thor Ragnarok and GoTG 2, but it was still pretty good.

Was it not amazing?! I can't with how much it should have won best picture over hot tuna love (which I quite liked, but Three Billboards was just a masterpiece). Woody Harrelson too, imo, but McDormand, always amazing, was just on another plane in that. Every expression, every line, so layered....

Just watched it this afternoon with Hubby, and we were blown away - I also love (and hate) the way they didn't wrap it up in a neat little bow in the end. :)

I watched the first and second Avengers movie. I haven't seen a superhero movie in like more than 10 years. They are quite enjoyable. I suppose it's because my boyfriend hates them. *shrugs*

What sparked this was due to one of our friends saying he might invite me to see the third movie. I feel like I still have a lot to catch up on...

I watched the netflix "Speed Racer" movie on Sunday, it wasn't quite as terrible as I was expecting! I recommend it to anyone who would enjoy super-cartoony live-action acting.

The Post, thought it was very good. Meryl Streep, been said many times before, in one way or another, is not of this world. Next up, Beirut, and Molly's Game.

You could probably get by with just watching Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy and not be totally lost. Black Panther
would be handy to have under your belt too.

We saw Infinity War last night. Gooooood flick.

Mr. Sardonicus on Svengoolie. Another William Castle gimmick-fest, this one featuring The Punishment Poll™, in which patrons were given cards with a glow-in-the-dark image of a hand with its thumb raised. Just before the ending, the audience was asked to hold up their cards and vote whether the titular Sardonicus is spared or punished, and the appropriate ending is shown. Castle maintained in publicity and in his autobiography there were two endings filmed but studio records and cast members have countered only one was ever completed. In typical Castle fare (this is the fourth of his I've seen, the first three 13 Ghosts, Strait-Jacket [Joan Crawford's follow-up after What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?], and I Saw What You Did, billed as another Joan Crawford starring vehicle but was more of a glorified cameo, Crawford being on screen for less than 15 minutes total, if that long), there were some decent ideas presented rather haphazardly, somewhat stiff acting and repetitive dialogue that repeated itself and became repetitive nearly killing the movies. Still, they're entertaining in their own rights, good for a late-show viewing.
