Is there a verb for this word? I want a verb that means to eat like a hungry wild beast. Help!

And what's that Snoopy emoticon means??? Is he in a hurry? Happy?

According to Flip Dictionary (which I highly recommend)
To eat ravenously with ugly noises: glunsh, gruffle, yaffle
I have never heard of any of those words, but they must be real.
To eat greedily: devour, engorge, gorge, gormandize, gourmandize, guttle, ingurgitate, wolf

gobbled or gorged

There's several phrases you could use such as "ate like a pig".

The verb of ravenous is 'raven' (as in the present participle ravening), but it is not used any more.

see http://www.word-detective.com/021804.html under 'Snack Time' for more information on 'to raven'.

'Devour' always conjures up images of wild beasts eating for me.

I agree, devour would be good.

Yes! I like devour. I'm going with it, why couldn't I come up with it before? It's such a common word...

Thank you rose, ally, and sandi!
