Contraction for "would not have"

My WIP is in first person, and I've never been clear on how to shorten "would not have" so it sounds cleaner in a conversational tone. Please help me.

Personally, I say "wouldn't've," but I don't know if that's proper.

Wouldn't've is Would Not Have. But it's clumsy to say, and even harder to read. I personally prefer 'wouldn't have', 'would not have', or 'never would'.
