If all it takes for a positive review is a good, old-fashioned bribe, I want to volunteer my services for 1 bottle of Maker's Mark per word. That way, I can fill the hole where my soul used to be with bourbon until my useless body collapses in death.

I'd offer to a pound of fresh made angst, but it sounds like you've gotten that covered.

As for bribery, I'll take five dollars off your tab if you want. ;)

I'm too disturbed by the images of 'the stars pronging the sails at night' to worry about the bribery.

Oh, dearikins me.

This is a program for vanity-published authors who not only couldn't find a publisher for their books, don't have any friends.

This is why it's important to be married as a writer. Because if you try to vanity-publish and then buy yourself some blurbs, your wife gives you a Very Stern Look which indicates you're being Very Silly, and you have the good sense to shut up and go write.

Every time you think vanity presses have bottomed out, some new scheme emerges that makes you just hold your head and go, "Woof... Whiskey. Need whiskey."

Now guys, an upfront fee is NOT bribery. Bribery has to be under the table in some fashion to be true bribery.

An up front fee is not even bakshish. Bakshish is an anticipatory gift given with the firm understanding that no one is thinking that the gift has ANYTHING to do with the favor to be imparted.

Regards,
Scott

This is under the table. The people reading amazon reviews don't know that the review was bought.

I'm still waiting for Amazon's customer service rep to e-mail me their canned response.
