I don't get most of it. I guess I have a lot of catching up to when next I sit. :D

Made me feel dazed and comfused and slightly used. I guess I'd better talk with my muse!

Dear Pat~,

Thank you for the poetic forms site reference. I have bookmarked it and shall refer to it often. Every poem has its own proper form, but starting from a formal form is, in my experience, an excellent place to begin. Where it ends, however, you never know until you get there. That's why writing poetry is always such an excellent adventure.

What is a Poem?

A Poem is a song
The meter its rhythm
Its words are the melody
Its form gives it freedom

Take these away
And nothing is left
But the grunt of the mute
Or the silence of the deaf.

This site -- whose URL has changed, but there's a redirect -- also has an excellent table of metrical feet.

This Is The Mother of All Resources Thread!!!

We have talked forms up and down the walk and I'm here to tell you this thread is the MOTHERLOAD!!

People like me, grossly undereducated, can truly benefit from such a poetic wealth of information!!

Okay, you've heard me say it.....I want to try every form of poetry at least once. I have a MASSIVE project on my plate.....wish me luck and don't cackle too loudly as they trickle forth.

Baby Poeticals, here you go.....a FREE education into the world of poetry!!! Gobble it up!!

That is great! Thank you, I've only written free verse with the exception for one sonnet that I'm not actually sure is correct. This is a huge help as like kenxdr, I want to try every form at least once. I think it will help me get better.
