Well guys, I finally got that rejection in the mail. I got my foot in the door but couldn’t get in.
Sigh. I wish the muse was real enough to turn into mist, go under the agent’s door and mesmerize her to read the whole thing.
But it’s not a fantasy world we live in, just one we write about, huh?
So tomorrow I’m back at it. I’ll return to AgentQuery.com and begin another blitz. I’ll send a quarry to Christopher Little too. He’s the agent for both JK Rowling and Derran Shan.
In other words, I’ll keep at it until someone is willing to give me a chance.
Depressed, but still standing.

A dark, evil place.
I was going to get mad at you and tell you, "don't you dare give up," but you already know that. I'm proud of you.

So b!tchslap the muse and make her work harder next time.

LOL!
B!thslap Annabelle? Have YOU tried to do that to a 300 yr old vampire child?

Not a good idea.

Don't worry about me.

Jessica was not right for this book.

The agent, he or she, is out there. I KNOW it. I just have to find him/her.

So I will. If I have to send out 50, 100 queries a week I will.

She's supposed to be out there. In Libraries, in schools, in book stores.
She has children to inspire.
It WILL happen. Mark my words, It WILL.

Good for you. Your agent is out there somewhere. You just need to connect. Keep submitting.

Hi JR,

'Just finished a young adult fantasy about two vampire children', is as per your profile.

Hope you edited and polished it like mad before sending Queries out, and that you have a synopsis ready. Have you carefully chosen your Agents as those who deal with your type of story, or are you shot-gunning queries all over the place?

Good hunting.

Thanks for the boots piscesgirl80! Us pisces need to stick together!

Hey Bufty,

That's all covered.

I’ll update that profile. I finished the manuscript, tested it with nine people (two of which are teachers on the grade level I’m writing to), made the necessary changes, created a query and synopsis and I am sending it out to agents who specialize in Young Adult, fantasy and commercial fiction. I’m also researching agents who have represented similar stories.

Is this one submission? It's YA/fantasy/commercial fiction all in one?

If the agent covers those then it applies to them. I've got a query that fits all of them.
It's the same query but it's sent to each agent separately.
10 so far. I'll call that a day and start fresh tomorrow.

Did your rejection give any indication at all as to why it was a rejection. The Query was accepted and prompted a partial request, so presumably nothing requiring attention there.

Either the partial wasn't up to expectation, or the work wasn't suitable for that Agent, I guess.

She said,

"I do not feel it is right for my list."

So I have no clue. I did work on the Synopsis today, though. It was 4 pgs long and now it's two.

Anyway, I emailed ten queries out today. I'm planning on smail mailing a few too.

Sorry to hear about that Jack. Keep plugging away and you'll snag one eventually. Meanwhile, time to work on the next book.

I couldn't stop if I tried. I've got online friends who want me to take a break to write them some stuff for our site, but Annabelle won't have that.

She has me on chapter twenty-seven of Book two. All I can do is keep at it.

Have you thought of submitting to Tor or the like? Ones who accept these types of books without agents?
