Has anyone else read this book? I thought it was one of the best American novels I've ever read. It is the perfect satire of 1950's suburbia, but rises above most satires by also training its eye on the arrogance and hypocrisy of those who who think themselves more refined than their crass, materialistic neighbors.

It's one of the funniest books around, as well as being a great tragedy, almost like an ideal Seinfeld episode combined with American Beauty (the movie). And it was published in 1961, long before revealing the dark side of suburbia became cliche. Yates said it all, first and best.
