2006 Poetry Super Highway Contest

Entry Fee - $1 for each poem, unlimited entries allowed
Deadline - Oct. 7th
Prizes - Total entry fees collected divided proportionally amongst top three winners. (My research shows the 1st place consistently receives over $300, second place around $175 or so, and third around $110 or so)
Other non-monetary prizes are included.

Poems may be of any style, length, or subject matter.

BTW, there's no mention in the contest guidelines about rights or whether they accept previously published work or work posted online, so I emailed them to ask. I will post their reply when I receive it.

Thanks for your interest in the Poetry Super Highway contest.

Regarding rights, if one of your poems win's the top 3 spots, we will publish it in online the week after the winners are announced. The work will also remain online in our Past Poets Archive which is a record of all of our weekly issues. You maintain all rights and ownership of your poem.

We have no specific guidelines on previously published work in print online. It's your call...however as the poem is judged blindly (with your name removed from the poems), if a judge happens to recognize the piece from somewhere else, it could unfairly bias their score in either direction. We ask that you keep that in mind when you're choosing what to submit.

in this case, and in most contests I have seen, the entry fee is where the prize money comes from. the guidelines for this particular one say it is completely not-for-profit and all funds go to prizes (and for postage to mail prizes.)
