Since I'm probably already on the fast-track to mudsville - and really, there's only a handful of us loonies down here in the basement . . . :D

Some of the Newbies up in the top floor have admitted their addiction, and joined up in hopes of finding help. Well, you've come to the strangest place for that !

Now, spit into your palm and repeat after me:

1) We admit we are powerless over plotting - that our lives have become completely uneditable.

2) We have come to believe that an Agent greater than ourselves will restore us to sanity.

3) We have made a decision to turn our novels and our lives over to the Muse as we understand it.

4) We have made a searching and fearless moral inventory of our synopsis and query letters.

5) We admit to the Muse, to ourselves, and to another AWer the exact nature of our plot holes.

6) We are entirely ready to have AW remove all of these defects of writing.

7) We humbly ask the Great and Powerful Editor to remove our misspellings.

8) We have made a list of all cliches we have violated, and become willing to make amends to them all.

9) We have made direct amends to such dialogue tags and dangling participles wherever possible, except when to do so would confound the reader

10) We will continue to take personal word counts, and when we are wrong, promptly pad it.

11) We will seek, through editing and confrabulation, to improve our plotting and contact with the Muse as we understand it, praying only for an Agent of his will and the power to sign a Publishing Contract.

12) Upon having a fictional awakening as a result of these steps, we will try to carry this message to writeaholics everywhere, and to practice these principles in all of our manuscripts.

Hi Nancy-it is about taking advantage of a person who is in a weak or succeptable position-it is joked about but frowned upon at the same time-it is an evil thing to do
