Hey look, Biden's president now. All the rest of you can feel what you want, I feel pretty good about it.

I expected this thread to be full of post sighing in relief. It was so wonderful to see him slink out with a bitty red carpet leaving the White House and a pitiful crowd at the airport where he boasted the same old lies about the biggest tax cut in history (it wasn't) and some other crap that wasn't true. I was only listening on the radio so I didn't see if he had another red carpet there.

Again, on the radio only (I'll watch the replays later) I thought the inauguration was well done.

The White House press briefings are back, starting at 7PM sharp tonight.

Normalcy. Get used to it.

Weirdly, I awakened at 5 am (that's one weird part), and immediately started singing "Brand New Day" from The Wiz (also weird, but not the weirdest), and I was completely calm (so weird). I'm a worrier, or at least I have become one. But from the time I opened my eyes, I felt nothing but peace and hope.

The inauguration was lovely. Not ashamed to say I cried much of the time. Some friends in the disability community pointed out that the announcer said, "Stand as you are able," which we don't hear often. I've often felt self-conscious in such moments. It was a grace note that was appreciated.

The woman signing the Pledge was a really nice touch.

My eyes watered at the news the Capitol Police fellow who drew the mob away so Senators could get out escorted Harris to the event.

Ah, the aptly named Officer Eugene Goodman.

I am so glad to see his heroism acknowledged. Today was quite something.
