Let me start by saying that I am not a people person. At all. Not in the slightest. No, not even a little bit, but I know that in order to develop my writing I need to be a part of something, with like-minded people, who can help me and I can, in turn, help them. At least, that is the theory.

My name is Shade, and I currently reside in Adelaide, Australia, in a purple house with 2 bunnies, 2 small parrots, 2 guinea pigs, 1 rat and something else... wait, I know this one... not a gorilla... big, tall, muscles, very needy... a partner! That's it!
I have been an avid reader all of my life (mainly fantasy and poetry) and wrote poetry as a teen (but then, who didn't?) and short stories here and there, but have only recently finished my first actual fantasy book. At least, I hope to turn it into a book. But I have no self-publishing funds and publishing houses are scarce in Australia, so I dunno where to go from here. But I'm hoping to meet people, share stories and, who knows? Maybe something glorious will come out of all of this.

Thanks for taking the time to read this intro, but I think it is time for me to crawl back into my hole and watch some Bob Ross.
Byiee!

Shade, you are among your own kind here. Welcome!

Outside my own family, I'd never before known people who dreaded phone calls or answering the door like I do. But here, it's pretty common. (What, other people put off making necessary appointments because phone?) We've got a whole lot of leave-me-alone writing folks who know just where you're coming from.

Maryn, whose COVID life isn't all that different

Hey, Shade (feels strange calling you that since that's my MC's name.) Welcome. Don't worry. I'm not a people person either by any means.

Welcome Shade! Congrats on completing your first novel! Isn't it an exhilarating feeling?

COVID hasn't felt much different from my regular life too (as Maryn said above). I stayed indoors before and I do now too!

Australia.
When Australia was in the early stages of covid, and still very short of PPE, we kept being asked to stay home and isolate rather than use up precious face-masks. My fave Covidtweet came from that time - a forlorn little Why do people keep socialising when the Government says we don't have to anymore?

Welcome, Shade - you're among friends :Sun:

Shade, why do you think we're all here, and not at live writer meet-ups and groups? Since COVID broke, I've been out 4 times - two for lab tests, two to get cash. And I have no real FOMO.
You have found your people.
