Hello everyone,
I'm pleased to be a newbie member of this forum. I am looking forward to sharpening my writing abilities and interacting with this community of writers and thinkers!
So a little bit about myself...
Genres of writing: I am wrapping up my PhD, so I suppose the genre I am most engaged with is non-fiction. That being said, anyone who has written a dissertation (especially in a pseudo-technical field, like mine) will tell you that the writing isn't always the most fluid. My ultimate goal here is to develop an ability communicate the thoughts of scholars and scholarship to a narrative non-fiction form, granting access to a world that a lot of people stray away from because of its intimidating nature. It is a different form of writing that I hope to learn over the next few years.
What I like to read: er, well, non-fiction I suppose, particularly of the narrative type. On the other hand, my favorite book series is the His Dark Materials trilogy from Philip Pullman, so I don't know.
How long have I been writing: I've published several scholarly articles over the last few years.
Do you beta read: maybe.
Do you have any hobbies: I'm an avid hockey player, voracious (but distractable) reader, and gamer.
Expertise in field or craft: As part of my research, I have interviewed a lot of people over the last few years, and then tried to portray their sentiments accurately within broader theoretical and organizational ends. That's the closest to expertise I can share.
Pronouns: he, him, his.
Anyways, thank you all, and I look forward to participating here!
