Hello all, Im Jay, a UK resident, while Im not new to writing (I write screenplays) I am new to long form story writing. I love to tell stories and was looking at a new medium in which to tell them.
Huge reader and big fan of James Ellroy (the influence behind my debut effort), Cormac MCarthy (Blood Meridian!!!) and Don Winslow (The Cartel!) to name just a small fraction of authors in my collection. Also a big horror/paranormal fan, True Crime (serial killers and organised crime) and Ancient History buff. Looking to connect with fans of crime, mystery, hard-boiled, gritty types of fiction but can happily talk shop with fans of most genres (*except romance *I half kid of course.
Ive always been intimidated by novel writing I was given a challenge by a close friend, herself a published debut author and weve always encouraged each other in our respective disciplines. Anyway I accepted her challenge and wrote my first novel in 3 weeks (2 weeks for 130 page outline) and I was hooked straight away!
The freedom of not having to worry about budgets, locations, casting considerations was so liberating so it went from challenge to an actual consideration that this was something I could do. Im already working on sequel ideas much to my friends amusement! So Im looking at joining a community to remove any fears and find passionate like-minded storytellers who I can learn from and be inspired by. I look forward to maybe posting something soon if that is something that is encouraged for newbies. Many thanks
