What has happened to erotica?

Well it's here now so I will take this as an excuse to discuss current genre trends. There's always a lot going on but in erotica, erotic romance and erotic spec fic I am seeing much more natural story telling about or including non-binary and trans characters. It's good to see. I am still seeing it more in self-published work than trade but I hope it is another trend that goes mainstream with time.
