DOWN TO ONLY ONE CASE TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *runs around the house excitedly*

Everyone I've spoken to is bemoaning the external pressure that made Dan move the next easing of restrictions forward a week (to tomorrow). Another week to really make sure we've got it under control would be great. And yes, I might have watched the clip of Dan whacking Greg Hunt at the press conference this morning a few times.

I have wondered from time to time whether or not Mr Hunt might have been a more positive person if his parents had just given some thought the playground ramifications of naming him Greg.

I always make sure to say his name in full, with the proper emphasis. :D

In tangentially Australian news (well, not really, but geographically close-ish) .... egads does the NZ election look to be heading towards a maaaaassacre.

And her partner, Clarke, cooked snacks for the assembled journos outside their home, then served it to them resplendent in a tracksuit and with a tea towel slung over his shoulder.

Can we have them, please?

Thirteen weeks of lockdown, and there are no new cases in Victoria today. Zip. Nada. Zilch. No deaths, either.

Today is a good day. :)

Another “yay!” from me. I wish my state was doing as well. We’ve been going in the wrong direction, with 1,200 new cases yesterday.

lol, I see that Tim Smith has tweeted again and the result is #DonutDick as well as the standard #DimTim

My favourite part of this whole thing was the various RW pundits defending him and decrying the tags by saying he was making a serious point. Right. He was sombrely and respectfully honouring people who've died .... with a photo of donuts.

(Also, they all conveniently ignored that the vast majority of those deaths were in federally-controlled aged care, but wouldn't want to let facts get in the way of partisan talking points, would we?)

eta: And thank you for the yays, everyone! :)

Today marks Victoria's 24th straight day with 0 new cases. :hooray:

The borders are reopening (NSW opened today, WA will in another 4 assuming our streak continues), and life has pretty much returned to normal. With our state budget due this week, Dan Andrews has already announced 5.3B will be spent building community housing, and today he announced casual workers will be given sick and carer's pay.

Sorry, the rest of you can't have him. He's ours.

Hopefully, Queensland will open the border to Victorians at the start of next month. (Not that you'd want to come up here over summer. It's bloody hot.)

So long as that border is (still) open in May, we'll be happy, given our move north had to be postponed for a year!!!

Infinitely proud of Australia, who has made more mistakes than NZ, but still managed to follow its own needs on things and not a slavish acceptance of The Word From America.

ETA: And such a crush on Dan Andrews.
