CNBC said:
President Trump fired State Department Inspector General Steve Linick Friday night, notifying Congress of the decision in a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Trump told Congress he no longer had full confidence in Linick, but did not provide an explanation as to why. A White House official said Trump fired Linick on Pompeo’s recommendation.

A Democratic aide told NBC News that Linick was scrutinizing Pompeo’s alleged misuse of a political appointee to perform personal tasks for himself and his wife, Susan. Democratic lawmakers have launched an investigation into Linick’s removal.

There are leaders of banana republics who are telling their people: "Hey, I may be a dictator and all-round-bully-boy, but at least I'm not crazy!"
And somewhere in the backrooms of the CIA, records are being checked, and old guys are being consulted: "Hey, remember back in the glory days, when all we did was topple anti-American governments? Got notes?"
