I'm new here (obviously) and am trying to figure it all out. I have a good deal of experience as a writer and editor but only in non-fiction. I've done ads, documentaries, magazine articles etc but have never tackled fiction which, I've discovered, is way, WAY different. So: I have a lot to learn. My preferred genres are thrillers (techno thrillers in particular), magical realism and horror. I do have a novel in draft form but it needs a lot of work. I've also been working on short stories. I'm looking for some constructive criticism on my work and am more than willing to do critiques of others' work. Eventually I'd love to find a critique partner for my novel but I suspect that is still a good way down the line.

As for other stuff: I live in the Pacific Northwest, am an avid hiker and kayaker, lover of rescue dogs and pretty good cook. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I look forward to getting involved.

Hey! Interesting you're moving from non-fiction to fiction and congrats on having a complete first draft!

I love short story writing, definitely a different writing muscle from novel writing but super important I think in improving writing overall.

I've just joined too and have the same goals of getting constructive criticism and critiquing other writers' work. I'm a way longer way off a first draft though.

Originally an avid canoeist, backpacker, and all-around camp cook from Montana, I live in the Pacific Northwest, now. Hiking has become limited to the mailbox on a cane, and cooking has moved to my patio BBQ.

However, I share your writing preferences for thrillers and horror--and also wrote articles in the army and short-stories in college and grad school.
