New record daily for HK: 67 confirmed cases.

However, this isn't the peak; in fact, we don't know when the third will peak, and there may be more cases to come according to experts:

The number of new infections exceeded the previous daily record of 65 cases, which were mostly imported, recorded on March 27. But even worse numbers could lie ahead, warned Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the communicable disease branch at the Centre for Health Protection.

There were four imported cases:

The four imported cases were two arrivals from the Philippines, and one each from India and Indonesia. The latest infections push the city’s overall tally to 1,655 cases, with 10 related deaths.

Also, the HK Gov is dithering on whether or not it should allow employees to work from home again. Bloody useless government again.

“I don’t understand why the government has not implemented a forced work-from-home arrangement now, when the extent of community outbreak is more serious than that in February,” said Chan Chiu-wai, an organising coordinator with the Confederation of Trade Unions.

Twelfth death recorded for HK today, 18 July 2020 (Saturday).

Hospitals are also showing the strain. https://news.rthk.hk/rthk/en/component/k2/1538553-20200718.htm?spTabChangeable=0

Temporary hospitals may also be needed. https://news.rthk.hk/rthk/en/component/k2/1538518-20200718.htm?spTabChangeable=0

I'm kind of angry but numb and tired at the same time. Kind of hard to keep hope up and stay positive (i.e., believing that this will pass); creative distractions are welcome, of course -- writing, crocheting, handicraft, etc.

Omg, Snitchcat, this is horrible. I’m sorry, I wish I could come up with something encouraging or helpful to say. I had been taking comfort in HK’s success, and I’m terribly sorry you’re all struggling again.

Thanks, JJ.

It's basically asymptomatic carriers at this point, and unknown-source / untraceable transmissions.

Experts say to stay home, that there's no need for an actual lockdown. But considering the number of people still going out and ignoring health advisory (or at least the employers are, and when you're on minimum wage, what can you do?), there may actually be a need for a virtual lockdown. I haven't a clue what a "virtual lockdown" is. But according to one expert (article link below), a city-wide lockdown would be extreme.

I just hope the majority of HKers realise this third wave is the real killer (cases have passed 2000, and deaths have hit 14) and act accordingly. (But there are arrogant, entitled twerps here, too.)
