So I've got a two part question.

1) When referring to someone, should it be "Master Soandso".... or should it be "master Soandso"?
What is the proper use when writing?

2) Would the above rule apply when referring to that someone in dialogue as well as out of dialogue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If it's Master as a title - as in, Mrs Brown or Miss White or Master George - it takes a capital. If it's master as a simple noun (his master) then it doesn't. And yes - as in Anne Brown or Sarah White, Master Soandso would take a capital.

Master of Hounds also takes a capital. As do some other masters because the patriarchy but don't get me started...

And it's the same in dialogue or narrative.
