Hello, my name is Torsten Burgundy (that's not my real name, but I'd rather be known as Torsten Burgundy). I joined this site in the pursuit of criticism for my work. I may not be all that great when it comes to things like critique, but I am willing to do my best in order to become a good member of this forum. I am 21 years old (turned 21 yesterday, actually). Although I enjoy writing, It has been quite some time since I've read a book/story, since I'm more into video games. I hope that I'll be accepted into this community, despite my lack of reading literature.

We of course need the tools to write well, but we also need perspective lest we succumb to our own limitations and produce single-minded drivel. Put down the game controller and pick up some books, first in your chosen genre but also outside of it. Well outside of it. Reading stimulates imagination, memory, and problem solving. All are essential if you want to write well. Reading also improves your understanding of story structure and efficiency, both be experiencing good examples of it as well as poor examples. When you know the difference you'll be ready to start.
