Lionel Richie tweeted about Kenny's passing, as did Don Schlitz (who wrote The Gambler and The Greatest)....

Lionel: https://twitter.com/LionelRichie/st...2?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet

"Today I lost one of my closest friends. So much laughter so many adventures to remember, my heart is broken... My prayers go out to Kenny’s Family."

Don: https://twitter.com/don_schlitz?lang=en

"That song says the best you can hope for is to die in your sleep. Maybe, I don’t know. But I do know this: The best any songwriter could hope for was to have Kenny Rogers sing one of your songs. I am forever grateful."

The Grand Ole Opry tonight was live streamed on YouTube without the usual audience and it featured a trio of probably three of the best guitarists in country music:

Marty Stuart
Vince Gill
and Brad Paisley

They did an homage to Kenny that nearly brought tears to my eyes.

Someone posted a time jump in the comments of Brad's tribute to Kenny Rogers in the Opry stream (8m27s).

As a tribute to Kenny Rogers, a British musician (name: Fil, Norwegian spelling) did an analysis video of Islands in the Stream (1983 duet with Dolly Parton). He has amazing analysis videos if you are looking for something to do in the age of Corona. I learned a lot of some of my favorite performers from watching his videos.
