nb. this is in the UK hence submitting partials not just querying

Hypothetically speaking, if I was going to be officially shortlisted for a short story competition tomorrow, would I be better off submitting my novel partial to agents when the news is fresh but just before the London Book Fair, or waiting until the book fair's over and they might actually want to look at their emails.

Competition might gain some traction on Twitter tomorrow, but not sure how long it will be of interest for.

And yes I know what they really care about is the quality of the actual book I'm sending in, but every little helps!

And yes they should probably cancel LBF the way things are going!

I decided to be cautious and email a whole two agents. I think they’ll be very busy at the moment and a short story being shortlisted somewhere probably won’t make them care tooooo much about the novel.
