Finished a paid project today. One more to go!

I can sleep without medication now! However, my nose is running harder than a Derby contender in the home stretch...

For March, I'm going to try to get back to Book 1. While coughing in bed, I realized I could get the pace moving by cutting out an entire chapter. It was just a cast introduction anyway. The FMC can meet any characters that matter over the course of the story, and readers will meet the rest in their own books. Now I can get to the good stuff faster, like the fight scenes and the sex. :e2brows: Or sex scenes that turn into fight scenes, and vice versa.

Helix - good going, keep those words flowing. You know you can do it.
Cindy - still in the 1K plus club, it does help get things done if you aim for that.
Layla - I am trying to stop myself starting things!
Pterofan - Hmm, fight scenes, I like those. Are they the same as sex scenes? Possibly.

1283 words done today on Fire Witch. Nicole has been trying to work out what her enemy has done with the mcguffin to make a "tornado of hate" (you might call it that). I need to work out how to have her put things right-ish.

Did some very rough sketch drawings of my version of mermaid anatomy for Fishy Tail.

I have a book of mermaid legends that needs reading.

Onwards and upwards, folks!

Day 21

Got down 810 words of the novel this morning and did a bunch of stuff on the report in the afternoon, despite the rain disrupting the satellite internet and then the power going out. Things are moving slowly, but they are moving.

Day 21
Three sessions and this essay is coming on. I had made the mistake of structuring it before really writing the different sections, and now I just had to give up and restructure as I went along. It's really tough but it's going forward and every little step is rewarding. Got some more books on the subject coming in, excited to keep going!

Layla -- I hope it rubs off too! Keep it up and I hope you get a chance to relax a bit soon.

Keep up the fight everyone!

Day 21

Word Count - 1716

Revisions - Shuffled chapters around in the historical and worked on my memoirs.

Helix - Congrats on having a productive day despite the interruptions.

Magnus - Another good day for you!

black.e.weis - A successful day indeed

Keithy - Terrific word count on a feel-bad day!

Very good day despite not having the time to revise the next chapter in the crime novel. I’ll get to that next.

I finished The Great Gatsby and will start reading Alas Babylon by Pat Frank today. I spent my reading time today watching Thursday nights episode of Grey’s Anatomy on Hulu.

Wow, this month is almost gone and it’s been one thing after another! First the forum goes down, then I caught my wife’s sinus infection, then we adopted a dog who has sucked every bit of our free time away (going on three weeks now). She’s a cutie alright but I miss being able to write whenever I want and sleep in on my days off.

All I can say for myself is that I have been working on a short story (plan to submit before March 15) and am making preparations to begin a new novel *gulp*

Day 22

Word Count - 667

Research - My ancestors

Revisions
  • A DEADLY SPILL OF SCARLET: Chapter 11
  • NOTHING LIKE A BIRTH TO START A FEUD (Unless It's a Funeral)

Layla - Steady ¼

Taylor - Get better soon, and good luck with the new novel.

I began putting my blog articles into book form: NOTHING LIKE A BIRTH TO START A FEUD (Unless It's a Funeral), which I will do at ease so as not to hamper the historical and crime. Speaking of the historical: I worked on it for the 23rd day.

Day 22-23
1 session each day. A little less than I ought to, but still a good total for the week, and doing way better than I have more of the winter, so feels okay anyway. Fresh week coming up!

Keep at it everyone.

Hi Taylor, sorry about the cold, and enjoy the goggie!
Excellent 3 Cindy
Congrats on that work, Magnus

I have a big worry, and I’m kind of losing track of things. I’m hoping my missing phone is at work. I seem to have missed at least one day posting here, I think. I’ll report for

Blake & Cindy - good going with the 1K club.
Taylor - oh new novel. Exciting! Keep well.

OK I did nothing yesterday (scheduled day off, not a problem) and nothing much today apart a bit of planning on "Fire Witch". I've decided to throw a curve ball. So, it's a matter of how to do it and what happens next.

non-writing

Did a tiny bit of gardening between the frequent rainy spells.

keep at it, keep swimming.

Day 23

Word Count - 642

Research - Flight of the French Huguenots. Jamestown Virginia.

Revisions - HISTORICAL: Chapter 10 + entire Lull II. MEMOIR: the middle third of the prologue. I actually wrote the middle first but did a switcheroo because the second has more of a hook to it.

Magnus - You’re keeping at it, though.

Layla - WTG on 1/3 page. Yikes! Hope you find your phone.

Keithy - Planning is big.

Started the second attempt to write my memoirs. I put shelved the first one, and apparently accidentally deleted it from my files last year. :gaah It was enough to swing me into a sledgehammer depression. I did manage to worm out of it about 8 pm this evening with the help of two short Growing Up Buford blog posts devoted to both sets of my grandparents’ histories. I researched and wrote a goodly amount in the remaining hours of Day 23.

Cindy - hat doffings for your 667 and 642
Layla - Same for you. Cripes, a flip phone?

OK today was a bit of a struggle, did 1055 words but it was like "pulling teeth". I kept thinking while writing "this will definitely need revising when I look at this again." Nicole and Madeline (the nun) are looking at the mcguffin, a magic item that doesn't like women. They've decided to let the man in their party look after it.

Also started an outline for another new-ish idea, "Dusty Planet".

:)

keep swimming or sailing... even when it's tough.

Didn’t get any work done on the new novel yet, but I did manage to edit the last bits of Part II of my long/neglected fantasy novel, so progress?

Day 24

Word Count - 141

Research - Word origins

Revisions - Historical - Chapter 11 and the date and time frames.

Layla - Right. Congrats on writing something! Glad to hear you found your phone. I remember the flips, but I didn’t get a phone until text was standard.

Keithy - Awesome word count for a struggle.

My cast are on the Ship Dunwoody, ready to sail off to the New World. I’m going to do more research about life aboard.

Day 24&25
3 sessions yesterday, 2 today, so not bad. The current non-fiction project is really tough, having to restructure it over and over because everything connects with everything and there's no clear place to start. I also need to do lots more research (ordered another four books to read), so I'll need to give it a break for a while and take notes, but I have to leave it in a better state or coming back will be hell. I think the goal now is just to reduce everything to the bare minimum so that I can take a new shot at fitting the pieces together next time around.

But hey, I'm working every day. That's a huge improvement. So thumbs up!

Keep hammering those words out and stay positive people! Apologies for mostly drivebys, but better I post at all eh?

In my mind, dreaming
Hey everyone! I'm in for the last week, I guess?? ;p Glad to see the site is up and running and that everyone's here!

Right now, my goal is to finish editing a short story for the local literary mag :) I'm aiming for 3 pages a day. Hopefully, I'll have some proper word-count related goals next month :)

(Patty Waves!)

Starting last Saturday, I've aimed for 1500 words per day until I hit "The End," which i hope to hit by April 15th. It's a bit of a grind already, but so far I've been managing the goal.

Today's only around 600 so far. Onward.
