What, if anything, can our resident jewelry experts/aficionados/curious-researchers tell me about this wrist cuff/band thingamabob?

I inherited this wrist cuff from my mother, who inherited it from her mother, who may or may not have inherited it from her mother's mother. They were all German, if that matters, though some of them had, for a time, lived in Prussia (at least until it became dangerous to be Jewish in Prussia, at which point they fled to Germany). My wife, a goldsmith in another lifetime, louped it all over and found no identifying marks. It shows a lot of wear, appears to be silver on the inside, but looks brassy on the surfaces showing wear. She speculates the design is Persian-esque, handmade.

This should show the front.

Here's a closeup of the wee dagger that pins the wrist cuff closed.

Here's another shot of the thing hinged open.

Naturally, I have many possible stories cooking in my brain about this piece, but without any living owners who know its history, I toss this to the collective wisdom of those who may find it interesting and look forward to whatever insight you may offer.

Hmmm... it looks Ottoman to me, or Turkish. Maybe something that went on a sword?

Your guess is as good as mine. Probably better. :) I hadn't thought of it as an ornament or functional sword thingy. I have half an idea this thing was hammered out by some street vendor who made dozens of them a day for tourists, but I know virtually nothing of my grandparents' lives and travels, much less that of their forebearers (at least on my grandmother's side of the family).

No expert. But I can suggest that the street vendor wouldn't have made the thing, though I imagine a vendor might have sold it.

Wow. I never considered looking on eBay, probably because I'm not an eBay member, but your find looks like a spot-on match. I'll see if I can contact the seller...
